Japanese publisher AQ Interactive has confirmed that Mistwalker is working on two new role-playing games for the DS.

News spilled from the pages of two press releases, one detailing a handheld version of Blue Dragon, and the other an RPG dubbed AWAY ~Tsuresarareta Hitobito ~ (Kidnapped People).

The latter will be designed by Mistwalker boss and Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, with music from famed composer Nobuo Uematsu and characters by Naoto Oshima.

Development duties will be pushed onto old pal Artoon, with a tentative Japanese release date of January 2008.

Blue Dragon, on the other hand, will be given to familiar outsource chum FeelPlus+, where it will be created under the watchful eye Sakaguchi. Blue Dragon DS is expected in Japan sometime next March.

Mistwalker was founded in 2004 with considerable financial backing from Microsoft, who received two exclusive 360 Japanese role-playing games in return: Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey.

The first is already out, and received mixed reviews for its nostalgic and lengthy adventure, while the latter is expected in February 2008.
