Monster Hunter World final boss Xeno'Jiiva strategy and how to beat Land of Convergence

Take down the final encounter.

Xeno'Jiiva is Monster Hunter World's final boss and the last monster you'll face in the main story.

Elsewhere, our Monster Hunter World tips can help you decide when to get, what to forage and what to do between hunts, and our Monster Hunter World walkthrough and guide can help with main quest and story progress.

How to prepare for the final boss Xeno'Jiiva in Land of Convergence

The final mission, Land of Convergence, will unlock once you have taken down the three quests that have you take down three Elder Dragons - Kushala Daora, Vaak Hazak and Teostra.

With all three done and the quest underway, you'll face a huge creature without a name - this is later revealed as Xeno'Jiiva.

In terms of preparation, if you have taken down the three Elder Dragons, there's nothing to stop you finishing the game. The encounter plays out differently to other fights, but you'll be more than ready to march on and see the end credits.

Xeno'Jiiva weakness and strategy

Xeno'Jiiva weaknesses:

  • Fire - Medium
  • Water - Medium
  • Thunder - Medium
  • Ice - Medium
  • Dragon - Medium
  • Poison - High
  • Sleep - Null
  • Paralysis - Low
  • Blast - Medium
  • Stun - Low

This nameless monster is Xeno'Jiiva, and the biggest monster you'll face (if you don't count Zorah Magdaros, obviously).

This is a battle of two phases. The first is pretty simple - the huge dragon will pace around the arena and you must attack its weak points - the glowing blue parts of its body on its head, front feet and tail - as it stomps around.

The attacks are mainly front paw slams, swipes and an array of powerful lasers it shoots from its head, which can cover the entire arena or specific directions. Either way they are well telegraphed, and it's a case of rushing to the dragon's side - from an angle ideally to avoid getting hit - and getting up close to avoid these attacks.

However, things get much difficult in the second phase, when it charges up and body grows red. As well as being more aggressive, it'll now paint the arena floor in light blue, causing an explosion, not unlike the elemental attacks from fellow Elder Dragons Kirin and Teostra.

One particularly devastating attack comes from a paw slam, as seconds later, its feet will dig into the ground and a huge explosion will surround the dragon, which can one-shot you.

Whenever you see this attack coming, simply back away. If you are close enough, it's also a nice opportunity to rush in after for a quick attack.

After a while, you'll change arenas, and the dragon will revert to the first phase, and repeat. That's essentially it - once you learn what to avoid, it's pretty simple, and feels more like a routine boss battle than a Monster Hunter encounter.

If you feel like the battle is not going anywhere, don't worry - Xeno'Jiiva has a lot of health, and as such, might feel like a slog after a while. But there's no other tricks beyond the two phases mentioned above, so keep at it and it'll be done for.

Note if you get knocked out and re-enter the battle, due to the arena's size, there's a strong chance you'll appear right next to the monster again, and likely in the line of fire, so stay vigilant.

It also doesn't give you a lot of room to run away and seek respite, so try and pick your moments to cure yourself and sharpen your weapons carefully.

Once you eventually take it down, it's technically the end of the game! Enjoy the end credits - though there are no more story missions to be had, there's still plenty of hunting to get on with. Good luck!
