Monster Hunter World's Witcher crossover finally comes to PC next month
Gonna teach you a Leshen.
It's taken its sweet time getting to the platform, but Monster Hunter World players on PC will finally be able to step into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia next month, on May 9th, as part of the game's Witcher collaboration.
Monster Hunter World's Witcher crossover, which arrived on PS4 and Xbox One back in February, consists of a decently sized single-player mission and some multiplayer-enabled questing. The first of these, a new Special Assignment known as Contract: Trouble in the Ancient Forest, is a permanent addition to the game, and is designed for solo hunters at HR16.
It casts players as everybody's favourite beard-y Witcher, Geralt of Rivia (with voice actor Doug Cockle even providing new lines), and features Geralt-exclusive abilities, side quests, multiple endings, and a fight with a familiar Witcher foe - the formidable, forest-dwelling Leshen.
By completing the assignment, you'll unlock an assortment of treats, including a new gesture, guild card background, poses and titles. You'll also gain the materials needed to craft the Geralt α full armour set and the Witcher's Silver Sword weapon (a Sword & Shield type, if you're wondering), as well as the Nekker α full armour set and Cursed Staff α for you Palico.
Those looking for multiplayer Witcher shenanigans, however, will need to wait a bit longer. From May 17th, groups will be able to try their hand at the new Contract: Woodland Spirit quest. This is intended for players at HR50 or higher, and pits challengers against a mighty Ancient Leshen - with the Ciri α full armour set and matching Dual Blades available as a reward.
Unlike the permanent single-player portion of the collaboration, Monster Hunter World's Witcher contract quest is limited-time-only and ends at 11:59pm on May 30th.
