Microsoft has announced that Halo Wars will receive another infusion of premium downloadable content this month with the release of the Historic Battles pack on 21st July for 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60).

The pack consists of four new maps and four new Achievements, detailed on Major Nelson's blog. There are two one-on-one maps and the others are suitable for two- and three-player teams.

As for the Achievements, which total 100 gamerpoints, they are tied into the new maps and are for things like hot-dropping 50 squads to your Covenant leader in one game, or disrupting five active Leader Powers in a single game. I have absolutely no idea what any of this means.

However, I do know that it comes on the heels of news that a third Title Update, focusing on rebalancing and a bit of bug-fixing, is due out imminently. Halo Wars fans can already pick up the Strategic Options DLC pack.
