MS: Halo Kinect features "will be cool"
But no "need to be hyper-excited" by them.
Microsoft has stressed that Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary's mysterious Kinect features are "cool", but gamers shouldn't get too excited by them.
"I don't think it's going to be something that people need to be hyper-excited about," franchise development director Frank O'Connor told OXM.
"It'll be cool, but it's not something you'd put on the front of the box.
"I don't want to downplay it, but I think of it like this - I use voice on Netflix and it's awesome, and that's what this'll be. Something that enhances you overall experience."
Last month developer 343 Industries said whatever form they take, the Halo remake's mysterious Kinect features will be optional.
News that the game will support Kinect had some fans' nerves jangling, but 343 has offered reassurance.
"Just to let everybody know, the Kinect features we're exploring with Halo: Anniversary are optional and won't affect your core gameplay experience," read the post by a 343 community manager.
"Our mission, from day one, has been to deliver a faithful recreation of the original game, and we remain dedicated to seeing that through to completion."
"We don't even have a date pencilled in for that announcement," O'Connor concluded.
