New Dreamcast shoot 'em up gets Kickstarter campaign
Redux: Dark Matters also targets iOS, PC, consoles.
Looking for an excuse to chisel the calcified dust off your Dreamcast? Well, resourceful indie studio KTX Software has announced plans to produce a limited run of its new shooter Redux: Dark Matters for Sega's aged machine.
In collaboration with NG:DEV.TEAM man René Hellwig, the developer has launched a Kickstarter drive to help raise funds towards dev kits for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade versions.
Rather than just receive a download of the game when it eventually releases, as is customary with these sorts of things, it's offering a Dreamcast-compatible hard copy.
Pledge over $65 towards its stated $25,000 goal and you'll get a double-pack which also includes an enhanced version of Hellwig's 2009 Dreamcast side-scroller Dux.
Only 1000 copies are going to be manufactured, a significant proportion of which have already been snapped up.
Redux, which features soundtrack contributions from Chris Huelsbeck of Turrican and R-Type fame, looks like a fairly traditional left-to-right bullet-hell affair. See the trailer below for a closer look.
It'll be out in July on iOS, with the Dreamcast version following in December. Providing it reaches its funding goal and KTX gets hold of those dev kits, it'll be out on PC, PSN and XBLA too some time later this year.
