New PAL Releases Roundup
Euro 2008, Time Crisis 4, lots of DS crud.
Our old friend racing couldn't be here this week (doubtless he's still playing Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Mario Kart Wii), but the good news is that he's sent along an able substitute: sports! So it's sports and shooting in the land of new game releases and everyone can relax.
Before we get onto that though, a brief diversion: Square Enix has The World Ends With You for DS out tomorrow. It's an action RPG from the Kingdom Hearts team that dumps you in Shibuya in Tokyo with nothing but a strange pin and a message that you're going to cease to exist unless you complete a special mission, which sounds a lot like what happens when Eurogamer sends us to the Tokyo Game Show. The review is due soon.
In the meantime, you can always read what we had to say about Time Crisis 4 and Euro 2008.
Questions of value hang over both; in Time Crisis 4's case, it costs a bundle because it's bundled with the GunCon 4 controller, which looks a bit like Kuato out of Total Recall, and in Euro 2008's case, it costs a normal amount but has fewer playable teams than FIFA games for obvious reasons. Euro 2008 overcomes this problem by being generally wicked and having lots of fun new gameplay modes. Time Crisis 4 cannot claim to be or have these things.
Also worth keeping an eye out for this week is Namco Museum Remix, which Atari is distributing over here, and which compiles all the usual Namco arcade game suspects but also includes a revamped version of DS game Pac 'n Roll. Look out for our thoughts on that, and other games on this week's shelves including Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for PC and Emergency Mayhem for Wii, very soon.
