Atari is to full localize Bandai’s Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex for Europe, the companies have confirmed, for release in March 2005.

Based on the Japanese anime TV series, the game features the infamous Tachikoma spider tank as well as Major Motoko Kusanagi and Bateau as playable characters. As fans of the series will already know, mind control, arms dealing and general violence are part and parcel of the Ghost In The Shell package.

While the game caught middling-to-good reviews in Japan – Famitsu gave it a respectable 29/40 – the addition of 20 minutes of rendered CG from the animation itself, 15 weapon types and four-player options (DeathMatch, Co-Op, etc) will make this an absolute must for any self-respecting anime aficionado.

The DVD series will also release in Europe early next year.
