Get your lateral thinking caps on, ladies and gentlemen: Syberia is back to torture our poor grey matter once again. It's not often we find ourselves reporting on point and click adventures, but French developers seem to like them - even some of you lot do, judging by some of the comments. Anyway, Microids has kindly put up a demo to Syberia II on its website, weighing in at 82.3MB, and it’s likely to run on even the most steam powered PC.

The game picks up with Kate, Hans and Oscar on a train heading for Romansbourg, the first of four lavish worlds to explore and conquer.

According to the wistful website prose, "The motley crew will clear the last bastions of Russian civilization followed by the Frozen North before arriving at Youkol Village, from where they will try to reach their final destination: Syberia."

In a radical deviation from the original (only joking) they will "overcome many obstacles and deal with shady characters to uncover clues vital to the continuation of their quest." Now there’s a thing.

Also: "Kate's timeless journey through Valadilene, Barrockstadt, Komkolzgrad and Aralbad has sparked an evolution in her character, from an ambitious lawyer to a curious and tenacious adventuress." Get downloading.
