Far Cry dev on leaked 1.4 patch
Whatever it is, it's not supported.
Far Cry developer CryTek has cautioned fans who may have gotten their hands on a pre-release 1.4 patch not to apply it lest bad things happen.
The patch, which has been circulating forums and such, allegedly enables newer Radeon graphics cards to play the already-very-pretty tropical first-person shooter using HDR (the shiny stuff Valve whacked in Half-Life 2: Lost Coast) and anti-aliasing, and potentially has some other features. Like a different number.
But CryTek's keen to point out that it's a bit naughty and could be hazardous. Speaking to the Crymod forum, community manager Alexander Marschal said "[t]he pre-release of patch 1.4 is not supported by either CryTek and/or Ubisoft. So it is not recommended to install it since it may damage your Far Cry installation in an unknown way."
The most recent official patch was v1.33, which you can download from the game's official website.
