Metal Gear series to go online
Kojima to develop PC games too?
Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has announced that he's hoping to following up MGS3: Subsistence, which features secondary online modes, with a game that will properly take the series online for the first time.
"We would like to make a more meaningful Metal Gear Online after hearing the opinions of people who've played the online battles in Subsistence," Kojima told Famitsu magazine.
"Years from now, we'd like to realise this on the PlayStation 3, on the Xbox 360, or maybe on the PC."
Kojima's not just committed to Sony's baby, then - something which he reaffirmed in another interview with Dorimaga magazine. Apparently Kojima doesn't fancy developing titles for multiple platforms, since he reckons it's better to look at a console's unique capabilities and the demographic of its users - and design your game accordingly.
Kojima said he is interested in developing for all of the next-gen machines, particularly the Revolution. But he's most excited about developing for the PC - despite the fact that many of his underlings at Kojima Productions would rather stick to consoles.
In the meantime, there's always Subsistence to look forward to - it's already out in Japan, but there's no word on a European release date as yet.
