Scrapland hits the web

No, we hadn't heard of it either.

We've just received word of a new site launch promoting Scrapland, the debut project from previously unknown Spanish outfit MercurySteam. Once you've wrestled the hideous Flash site's wobbling navigation into submission, you'll find a wealth of information about the forthcoming sci-fi space combat shooter's tongue-in-cheek storyline and characters, along with some pretty artwork and screenshots which we pilfered for you anyway.

We managed to gather that players will assume the role of a robot called D-Tritus inhabiting an asteroid called Scrapland, which is host to a population of machines. D-Tritus gets a job as a photographer as an important archbishop is murdered, apparently at the hands of a human, and he decides to investigate. D-Tritus' talents include the ability to assume the identity of other characters and acquire their abilities - quite how this will tie in with the fast-paced gunship combat remains to be seen. No platform, publisher or release date details are available at the moment.
