What's that you say? Why, it's the sound of Sega flogging a dead horse!
Sega Europe has today announced plans to release Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut on the PC. Goodness, eh? The curiously named special edition of the erstwhile Dreamcast game features a new Mission Mode, which debuted in the recently released GameCube version, along with marginally improved graphics, and should be made available in Q1 2004.
Quite why is anyone's guess, as the GameCube release was roundly slammed for being rather cynical and rough around the edges, and further re-examination does little more than to pollute our fond memories of playing the game on the Dreamcast. Why not port something more interesting to the PC, and give PC owners something to appreciate Sega for? Billy Hatcher springs to mind, with Sonic Heroes bouncing around right behind him.
Still, if this the sort of thing you've been crying out for, apart from introducing you to eBay (where you can buy a Dreamcast and a copy of the original game for about what this will cost when it's released next year), we ought to point you in the direction of a recently released Japanese demo here. It won't be easy to set up if you don't speak Japanese, obviously, but if you're thinking about spending your hard-earned on a shameless port of a once-proud title at the height of such a well-stocked Christmas season then you clearly deserve a bit of pain...
