New Paper Mario 2 trailer
Mario folds under the pressure.
Mario RPG series fans can see one of their biggest glimpses yet of Intelligent Systems' forthcoming Paper Mario 2 this week courtesy of a new Japanese website that includes a 'pulp-sating' trailer movie. Oof.
For most of us, there's a lot of incomprehensible text and images gathered everywhere else, but firing up the movie is fairly self-explanatory - just make sure you turn down those speakers if you're at work, lest you wind up bombarding the office with the Japanese voice-over.
The trailer itself - dubbed "Introduction Movie" - showcases some new areas, some of the areas from this year's E3 demo, and a lot of the clever paper and page-turning effects, including turning sideways to slide between bars, transforming into a paper aeroplane and so on. You can also see the Bowser bonus stage and, our favourite, the room with hundreds of skeleton adversaries.
Paper Mario 2 is near-finished at this point and should be out in Japan on July 22nd as Mario Story 2. Hopefully it'll be out in Europe by the end of the year, following an October release Stateside. You can read plenty more about the game in our recent first impressions piece.
Oh, and if you still haven't played one of its precursors - most notably the recent Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga on Game Boy Advance - please get on with it!
