EA working on new C&C Red Alert game
From the team that brought us Command & Conquer Generals. Official announcement due in the near future.
Electronic Arts has revealed that it's working on a new game in the Command & Conquer: Red Alert series in an email sent to fan site operators by VP and executive producer Mark Skaggs.
With the release of The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth nearly upon us, Skaggs said the company wanted to start turning attention toward its next project, and that in an unusual twist - perhaps unprecedented for Electronic Arts - he was breaking the news to fans of the game ahead of the gaming press.
"We are very proud to announce that the team that brought you Command & Conquer Red Alert 2, Command & Conquer Yuri's Revenge, and Command & Conquer Generals has officially started work on our next project set in the Red Alert universe," he wrote.
Referring to the Sage graphics engine used for Generals, he added: "Expect us to leverage and continue to evolve this powerful engine as we start work on our new Command & Conquer game."
An EA UK representative we spoke to today declined to comment, citing the absence of an official announcement at the present time, but fortunately for you and them, Skaggs' email said to expect one "soon".
