Pro Evolution Soccer 4 will be released on Xbox and PC-DVD this November 19th, Konami of Europe has confirmed this afternoon, and both versions will support "fully competitive online gameplay".

That apparently amounts to one-on-one match-ups only, so sadly there'll be no opportunity for two-on-two or PES fans' other preferred options, but it's good to see support in both versions and not just Xbox, which had been the fear.

Konami has previously stated that the Xbox version will support the option to form mini-leagues too, and we'd be surprised if that didn't extend to the PC version too. We're expecting to hear back from Konami on that shortly.

PES4 is already available on one format of course; it launched on PlayStation 2 last month and went straight in at the top of the All Formats chart for a week, despite the impact of EA's rival FIFA Football 2005 across multiple formats.

Sadly the PS2 version lacks online support, but as we explained in our review, it's still a wonderful thing regardless. The game's producer has since gone on record saying that the next iteration of the PES franchise, presumably to be known as Pro Evolution Soccer 5, will go online on PS2 as well.

We'll bring you more on PES4's forays onto Xbox and PC as soon as we can.
