Nintendo announces Western DS games list
Big hitters include EA, Ubisoft and THQ, but the new list leaves us with more questions than answers.
Having unveiled a complete list of titles in development at Japanese studios last week, Nintendo has now unveiled a list of Nintendo DS titles in development at Western companies, which we've presented for you below.
There is some overlap between the two lists, so we've stripped out a number of titles that were included last week, which ought to give you a better idea of what to expect - and saves us getting extremely confused by cryptic "plus three additional titles" lines that actually refer to Japan-specific product that Nintendo of America can't be bothered to identify.
Big names on the list include EA, which most notably has GoldenEye and Tiger Woods titles in development in addition to the previously announced Need For Speed and Urbz titles, whilst the promise of a new Rayman title from Ubisoft is bound to float somebody's handheld boat.
It's also worth noting that both THQ and Ubisoft are major publishers with titles yet to be announced, and we'll be curious to see if that means the likes of Prince of Persia and Tom Clancy titles are on Ubisoft's mind. In THQ's case, it'll be equally interesting to see whether the publisher goes for a child or adult-oriented line-up - as it can now draw quite reasonably from both stables.
Furthermore, Nintendo has yet to announce the full extent of its own developments. A number of titles, including Animal Crossing DS, Mario Kart DS, NEW Super Mario Bros., Nintendogs, Metroid Prime: Hunters, PictoChat, Super Mario 64x4 and WarioWare, Inc. DS have been identified already, but Nintendo reportedly has some 20 titles in development internally, which leaves some room for future announcements.
