Sony is planning to release a new battery charger for PlayStation Portable users in Japan next month, GameSpot reports this week, although there's no word yet on a more capacious chunk of Li-Ion love.

The PSP Battery Charger (PSP-190) reportedly improves recharge time for a completely drained battery by around three quarters of an hour, meaning that it's now possible to recharge your handheld in around one hour and 35 minutes.

The new charger should be out on 14th July and will cost 3,500 yen, which is about 25 Euro. Hopefully they can put the bloody things on planes in time for next year's E3, eh? [Was it 15 or 20 minutes into the flight that your PSP ran out of juice? -Ed]

Meanwhile, the platform holder is also preparing to release a new remote control set, which will cost 2,800 yen and is different to the silver one that comes with the PSP Value Pack in that, er, it's black.

Yes. That's where we would have invested our resources too.
