Enthusia tuned for May launch

We figured you'd like to hear about a PS2-exclusive racing simulation for a change. [Glances nervously left.]

Since we appear to have turned into Gran Turismo Gamer for the second time in a week today, it seems fitting that Konami of Europe chose this lunchtime to announce that its own GT clone (sorry, competitor), Enthusia Professional Racing, is due out on 6th May. The day after my Mum's birthday, that, which means that Konami's latest ought to be better than at least one other driver out that week...

A Manabu Akita-produced effort, Enthusia Professional Racing is about driving properly, tuning your car and all the other expected proper racing sim stuff. Visually it's not exactly on a par with Polyphony Digital's chart-topping latest, but in gameplay terms it's similarly compulsive, and features some neat ideas like post-race track overviews showing where you put your wheels wrong, and a Visual Gravity System (VGS) which gives you an on-screen indication of the strength and direction of G-forces affecting the car as it corners.

In addition to basic race options, the game's Enthusia Life mode thrusts the player into a long season of races with Enthu and Skill points to accumulate by competing against CPU-controlled racers - and, er, driving properly against them and not just shunting them aside on every corner, eh Kaz? Kristan rather liked the look of Enthusia when he took a look recently, and we'll bring you more on the game as it, er, gears up for release.
