Halo PC goes gold

As previously stated here, the PC version of trendy shooting game Halo: Combat Evolved will be released on October 10th, after developer Gearbox finally finished it up this week.
As we found out when we took a trip to meet them, Halo on the PC is much more significant than any mere port, with netcode and Windows exclusivity our only concerns - the single player game and countless multiplayer options looking exceptionally sharp at this stage. We particularly like the look of the flamethrower.
However with Halo 2 potentially making an appearance at X03 tonight in France, one has to wonder whether Microsoft will end up spoiling its own PC surprise, even if the mighty Xbox FPS has slipped to April 2004...
