Metal Gear Acid and Snake Eater USB connectivity?
Japanese retailers report that the two games can link up and swap toys, but it's not yet clear to what extent.
PlayStation Portable title Metal Gear Acid will be able to link up with its PlayStation 2 counterpart Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater in order to unlock bonus content in both games, according to reports emanating from retailers in Japan where both games go on sale today.
Although Metal Gear Solid 3 has been available in the USA since mid-November, the Japanese launch was always set for December 16th and at some point Konami pegged back Metal Gear Acid - a spin-off, turn-based strategy style title - to launch on the same day.
However this is the first we've heard of an actual connection between the two events, and reportedly stems from the documentation with Metal Gear Acid - the suggestion being that connecting the PSP and PS2's USB ports using a generic USB cable will unlock some manner of Easter eggs in both titles.
Sony has not made a big deal out of PS2/PSP connectivity, apart from confirming that it is indeed possible, and this interaction between the two Metal Gear titles is thought to be the first example of its application.
As soon as we find out what you actually get for going to the trouble of connecting the two games, we'll be sure to let you know...
