Sega of America plans to release an English version of Hitmaker's Cube title Island of the Kaiju in the States, giving Americans and FreeLoader-owning Europeans the chance to create monsters and run around competing for ways to upgrade them. Boats (assuming your couch is some form of seafaring vessel) will be leaving for Amazing Island later this year, and it sounds like a peculiar beast. (Sorry.)

The idea is to create a monster based on a number of variables, and then put it through a gauntlet of challenges revolving around speed, timing or confrontation, to earn various "monster enhancement features" (like wings) and reclaim eight magic orbs, which are needed to, er, defeat the Black Evil and return the island to the Maboo tribe.

In addition, players can transfer pre-rolled monsters to the Game Boy Advance via link cable and unlock special GBA-only monster building items, or even link up with friends for some multiplayer challenges.

Amazing Island wasn't part of Sega of Europe's E3 line-up, and hasn't been announced for PAL release just yet, but we'll let you know if that changes.
