Capcom talks Viewtiful Joe DS

Clover Studios "simply wanted to make a game on the DS," the developer reveals. And why not!

Capcom's Viewtiful Joe title for the Nintendo DS was conceived mainly because Clover Studios "simply wanted to make a game on the DS because it is a fun piece of hardware," the developer has revealed.

However "it won't be just a simple port," we're told, although for the moment we're still in the dark as to what it will be - an update on the official Japanese site is less than explicit.

What we do know is that it won't be set in Movie Land, that there will be significant new characters, and that "Reflection" is the theme of the game. Whatever that means. We're also told that the two screens will display different, but closely related images, and that touch will be a big part of what separates the virtual from the real.

So, er, "it's a Viewtiful Joe game for the Nintendo DS" is still arguably the only thing we can say with any real authority. Ho well. More next time, perhaps.
