With the European release of Hideo Kojima's innovative GBA Action RPG Boktai: The Sun Is In Your Hand just weeks away, details of the sequel are starting to appear in Japan.

Just in case you've forgotten already, Boktai is the GBA game with a sunlight sensor strapped on the top. When exposed to direct sunlight, the game builds up a store of energy that can be harnessed as part of the player's arsenal in the fight against pesky vampires.

The Boktai sequel (going by the name Zoku Bokura no Taiyo in Japan) will expand on the range of things you can do with stored up sunlight, allowing you to power more than just the default weapon. Apparently this time the game's hero Django will be able to draw upon various spells, and make use of a 'solar blacksmith' to produce up to 60 different sunlight-powered weapons, including various swords and spears.

Boktai: The Sun Is In Your Hand supposedly due out in Europe this May 14th according to Konami's most recent schedule, but the sequel is due out in Japan this July, and American retailers are listing it for an autumn release. Assuming we can find a sunny patch of Europe to play it in when it comes out, we'll be sure to give it a go and let you know whether it shines or wilts in the heat.
