Eve Online to evolve for 'years'
Content update in 'two months'.
CCP, Eve Online's Icelandic developer, has stated its ongoing commitment to the space-race MMO, assuring the game's 300,000 global players that there's no end in sight for content updates and development of the title.
"We release two big expansions a year, and we're going to continue doing that," said company CMO Magnus Bergsson at the Nordic Game event in Malmö, Sweden, yesterday. "We're extremely dedicated to continue having Eve evolve throughout the years. There are no plans to stop developing Eve, because the concept of space travel is timeless. It doesn't go out of fashion."
Those addicted to flying around in the ether pretending to "be in" a galaxy far, far away will also be heartened to know CCP is well on track to deliver its latest free content update.
Our next big release is coming before the end of the year," said Bergsson. "When exactly I don't know: maybe in two months."
The specific content of the upgrade is still under wraps, however, but Magnus promised you won't have long to wait.
"There are of course a huge amount of things we have yet to add to our game which are quite interesting," he said. "We're going to be announcing many of them at our fan-fest in November. We're going to be making some serious announcements. Are you interested in being there?"
Course we are, Magnus. Iceland's supposed to be nice this time of year. Whether we make the trip or not, we'll be sure to bring you all the news from the land of fire and ice. And Eve Online players can rest assured that their favourite waste of time won't be going anywhere soon.
"It's very stable and it just keeps on growing," Bergsson said.
