Champ Man 5 patched
Milan Baros would like the next patch to remove Nigel Martyn's left leg. He'll deal with Alan Stubbs' by himself.
Championship Manager 5 has been patched to bring the game's database up to date and to fix and refine a number of features across the length and breadth of the game.
CM5 - the first game to bear the fabled CM brand name since publisher Eidos and series creator Sports Interactive parted company - was released on Friday and the patch followed it on the same morning.
Weighing in at 28.2MB (Windows version), it promises numerous database updates - including "all major transfers" up to 6th March - as well as the addition of missing away team colours, and a huge number of very specific tweaks.
The full (huge) list of changes is outlined on CM5's official website here while the patch itself can be had from www.cm5patch.com.
The bad PR generally associated with launch-day patching won't help Eidos, of course, because it smacks of shipping an unfinished product to satisfy corporate needs (something that reminds us of the Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness debacle), but at least you can't accuse the UK firm of being too premeditated about it all - according to Internet registrars, it only registered the www.cm5patch.com domain on 16th March, two days ahead of the game's release.
We should have a review of Championship Manager 5 online soon. And, lest we forget, reports have it that it's not as bad as the anti-hype suggested.
