Galaxies jumps to Lightspeed
Star Wars MMORPG Galaxies is due an expansion pack this year, LucasArts has announced, introducing space exploration and combat.
LucasArts has unveiled Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed this week, an expansion for the MMORPG of the same-name-minus-the-bit-after-the-colon. It's due out this autumn, and as the name suggests the main addition is space exploration and combat, which we seem to recall was due to appear in the original release of the game until time constraints went into overdrive.
Jump to Lightspeed will offer 15-plus space vehicles, including the recognisable X-wings, TIE fighters and a few ships similar to the Millennium Falcon (the Falcon itself is obviously in use during the period the game is actually set - between The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi). Using one of the new ships, players will be able to explore the galaxy from the Core Worlds to the Outer Rim, traversing asteroid fields, nebulae and space junkyards to name a few.
The pack will also include over 100 new missions, new space-specific professions, and two new customisable species. For more info, LucasArts already has a FAQ document up here, you can see some screenshots of the game right here, and a short movie is already available as well.
