Wanda and the Colossus trailer, new screens
Hurrah for the Tokyo Game Show, eh?
Wanda and the Colossus - the latest game from the team behind ICO - made an appearance at the Tokyo Game Show this weekend, although disappointingly it was only available in video form. And while it was nice to see the game often referred to as NICO in action for the first time, the presentation didn't really tell us anything we hadn't already heard in the run-up to the show.
Announced alongside Game Republic's first title around a fortnight ago, Wanda and the Colossus sees a young boy on horseback trying to return a soul to a young girl resting on an altar somewhere by destroying the enormous beasts that stalk the desolate land around him - by scaling them hand over foot and finding a way to destroy them. Although it's obviously very different to ICO, visually it makes the same subtle use of colour, and obviously we're hoping it's similarly emotional.
And it's a good thing Sony had the brains to pop the TGS video up on the game's official website, which was quietly stocked with information and screenshots over the weekend (which we've compiled for you to flick through here), or we would have been getting emotional already.
You can find the trailer (with high and low bandwidth options) here. First of all it shows the young boy delivering the girl to a shrine, where she lies in state until he can help her, and secondly we get to see him tackling some of the Colossus creatures. It looks bumpy. You can read more about Wanda by heading here, and we'll let you know as soon as we hear anything else about it.
