Valve Software is hoping to release new maps and player models for Counter-Strike: Source this December. The maps include fan favourite de_prodigy and "one original map" according to Valve's Erik Johnson, commenting on a thread on fan site CS-Nation.

"We're working on porting some more of the classic maps right now, currently de_prodigy is in the works. We'll be releasing this as quickly as they are completed," said Johnson. "We're also working on one original map, which will begin internal playtesting this week. This still means we have a fair amount of work to do on it," he added.

Valve is "also working on two updated player models," which is good news for anybody who's getting bored of the two default choices in Counter-Strike: Source. "Most of this is scheduled to be released in the December timeframe," he concluded.

CS: Source was recently made available to gamers who pre-ordered Half-Life 2 using Valve's Steam service, and currently features nine maps reworked using the superior Source Engine technology. You can read our thoughts on it all here.
