EG regular to run marathon
Pledge support for Kincaide online.
This 17th April, dedicated gamer and Eurogamer regular David "kincaide" Howlett is to repeat his feat of running the London Marathon, and we'd very much like you to pledge a few quid to help him achieve his target of £1500 sponsorship money for the Vision Charity, which raises funds to help blind, visually impaired and dyslexic children. You can sponsor or pledge money on David's fundraising webpage here.
David ran the marathon for the first time last year, finishing with a time of five hours, 15 minutes. "The lengthy time was due to me getting blisters at the 19th mile. Then I could only walk-run-walk to the finish. But I still beat ex-Eastenderer Charlie Brookes to the finish line, which will teach her for killing Barry," he told us.
This time, however, things are going to be different. "This year I want to do it properly with the right trainers. I have a bit of an unfair reputation for being a stereotypical fat gamer and I like to prove a lot of people wrong," he added. "To hammer the point home I am running the marathon this year dressed as my cult Pro Evolution Soccer 4 player Carlos Valderrama." You can find a picture of Carlos - David, that is - as well as some slightly ungracious comments from otherwise generous friends, on his marathon website.
Good luck to David from all the Eurogamer staff. We'll be sure to track him down again afterwards to find out how he did. Until then: please give generously. And if any of the rest of you are running in the marathon, feel free to let us know! We'd be happy to help publicise your efforts and your cause.
