RedOctane and Harmonix are looking for independent musicians interested in having their work featured in Guitar Hero II, due out in the US this November.

The "Be a Guitar Hero" competition has now kicked off, allowing musicians with their own hard rock or heavy metal songs featuring a lead guitar to submit mp3s over the Internet for consideration.

It's all handled through www.beaguitarhero.com, and submissions have to be sent in before midnight on June 30th.

Guitar Hero II, announced this month, will include new play modes and a huge track list, with potentially 40 licensed and 15 unlockable independent songs for people to strum along to on the game's signature Gibson SG guitar peripheral.
