Gordon Freeman visits Traptown
Crispy, fresh videos on Steam! Yum!
Valve has released yet another shiny high-res Half-Life 2 video via Steam, which brings the total up to four now. In this latest flick - titled Traptown - we get our first glimpse of the game's HUD which doesn't appear at all far removed from Half-Life's original version. If it ain't broke... Anyway, the video charts Gordon's progress through what appears to be a slightly slum-like part of City 17, pursued by troops armed with machine guns. Exhibiting some of the enemy's intelligence, we see Gordon block a door with a table, only to have the troops change position and fire through the windows before kicking the door and table across the room.
We also get treated to seeing a couple of the weapons in action, specifically a pistol and what is being referred to as the Manipulator, which picks objects up with an energy beam and propels them forwards with great force - demonstrated by Gordon tearing a radiator from a wall and firing it into an enemy's face. The video then goes on to demonstrate some cleverly set up booby traps for taking out advancing troops and zombies. If you haven't seen the video of this part yet then we don't want to spoil it for you - we defy you not to crack a smile.
Anyway, if you really can't stand the idea of Steam interfering with your bits and pieces, then keep your eyes on 3D Gamers, because it'll probably appear on there soonish.
