MS on Live Arcade retail reports
They're not denying it.
Microsoft has said it has "nothing to announce" when it comes to retail version of Xbox Live Arcade games, despite Ellie's old pal Internet Reports banging on about a boxed "Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged" title for over a week.
The original story was based on one of those tried and trusted (cough) retailer pages which listed "Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged" as coming soon - and even added a packshot, albeit one that somewhat incongruously claimed to be a PAL game despite a US ESRB Teen rating.
That retailer page suggested Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged would include Geometry Wars, Bejeweled 2 Deluxe, Wik: Fable of Souls, Hardwood Backgammon, Outpost Kaloki X and Texas Hold 'Em Poker, which has yet to come out yet.
And of course there was a one-month subscription to Xbox Live Gold thrown in. The first hit's always free etc.
When asked whether any of this was true or whether some excitable retailer had gotten the wrong end of the stick, Microsoft told us, "We have nothing to announce at this time."
Which might as well be a yes, since it's not the usual line about rumour and speculation that we've all come to love so much.
In the meantime, you can buy all those Xbox Live Arcade games, except for Texas Hold 'Em Poker which isn't out yet, but logging into Live Arcade through your dashboard. Prices vary but generally work out at around £5-10.
