EA has decided to ditch Kinect support for its next Harry Potter tie-in, the publisher has announced.

Producer Gary Napper told Joystiq that, unlike its predecessor, the Xbox 360 version of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 will not use Microsoft's motion control peripheral.

His team at EA Bright Light decided "early on to focus on the core of the experience, get as close to the atmosphere of the movie and make the flow of the combat feel right."

"We didn't want to dilute any of our efforts on other things that would require a lot of the team's time to perfect,” he added.

The first Deathly Hallows game scored a rather pitiful 3/10 when it launched last year.

“It's an insult to the fiction, an insult to the increasingly good films, and an insult to bad videogames,” wrote Keza MacDonald in her Deathly Hallows Part 1 review.

Part 2 is out on 15th July for DS, PC, PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360.
