Nintendo reveals Amiibo figurines for Smash Bros, Mario Kart
UPDATE: Photos of the entire range, and an indication of cost.
UPDATE 13/6/14 2.15pm Nintendo's new range of Amiibo NFC toys has been shown off on the E3 show floor - including a first look at the figurines in their packaging.
Thankfully the models won't be sold in blind bags, similar to Nintendo's NFC Pokémon toys.
But how much will one Amiibo toy cost? Speaking to Seattle Times, Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime stated that the range would be priced similarly to other NFC model ranges.
"You can expect them to be comparable to the Disney and Skylander products that are on the market," Fils-Aime explained. In the UK, individual Disney Infinity toys cost around £9.50, while Skylanders models range from £6-12.
Below lies a few close-up photos of characters in their boxes (thanks, NeoGAF) and a picture of the full line-up.
ORIGINAL STORY 10/6/14 5.25pm Nintendo's NFC toy range will be called Amiibo and will launch at the end of this year with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
The toys will also be supported in Mario Kart 8, Mario Party 10, Captain Toad and Yoshi's Woolly World.
Place one of the special figurines on the GamePad's NFC reader and it will import data to your game.
The figures look like established characters and house chips which store data - allowing the figures to be levelled up. Place your Mario Amiibo next to the GamePad in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and you'll get a version of the character with its own unique stats.
Figurines shown include Mario, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, Link, Zelda, Fox, Peach, Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, the female Wii Fit Trainer, Marth from Fire Emblem, Pit from Kid Icarus, and Animal Crossing's Villager.
