Oddworld Inhabitants confirms Abe's Exoddus remake is on the docket
"We're going to have the community name it."
A remake of Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus is in its planning stage, series creator Lorne Lanning has revealed.
"We're planning that now," Lanning said in an interview with Kinda Funny Games.
"We're going to have the community name it," he added, noting that there will be a poll for its subtitle.
This news should come as little surprise as Lanning told us last spring that he'd have to sell 250K copies of Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty to fund an Abe's Exoddus remake. It sounds like that's happened. Furthermore, New' 'n' Tasty expanded its market to include an Xbox One version, while its PS3, Vita and Wii U ports are still in development and planned for release later this year.
Developer Oddworld Inhabitants noted on its official blog that the PS3 version in particular is "in the very final stages of development."
Regarding the Exoddus remake, Oddworld Inhabitants said, "We get asked every day whether this is going to happen so it's nice to finally be able to say that this is indeed our intention."
Lanning previously told us that he'd need New 'n' Tasty to sell half a million copies to fund a brand new Oddworld adventure, though even then he said "no matter what, Exoddus would come first." Still, it's nice to get confirmation on this plan as this is the first he's addressed the matter since New 'n' Tasty's launch.
New 'n' Tasty is out now for PS4, PC and Xbox One. Our Chris Donlan, and myself for that matter, highly recommend it.
