UPDATE: Frozenbyte has told Eurogamer Atlus is the worldwide publisher of the console versions of Trine 2. "We are aiming for a worldwide simultaneous launch on all platforms," a spokesperson said. "Focus is the European PC retail publisher and some online channels - we will self-publish on Steam and a few other worldwide channels."

ORIGINAL STORY: The PC and Mac versions of puzzle platformer Trine 2 will launch in Europe at some point during the fourth quarter of 2011.

That's some time during October, November and December this year.

In March the game was delayed to late summer, having been due out in the spring.

It launches in Europe as a retail and digital release, courtesy of Focus Home Interactive. There's no word on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions.

The original game saw players take control of three characters - a thief, a knight and a wizard - each with their own special abilities that came in handy for solving puzzles. The sequel promises online and offline co-operative play.

Trine 2 will be available in Europe as a Standard Edition and as a Collector's Edition that features an exclusive CD soundtrack by the returning composer Ari Pulkkinen (recently of Angry Birds/Outland fame).
