Microsoft has said the first episode of Penny Arcade Adventures is due out on Live Arcade this summer.

The publisher confirmed the date alongside many of the games talked about in its Game Developers Conference keynote last night in San Francisco. We just forgot to tell you about it.

Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness is coming to PC too, and features all the familiar satirical cartoon-artwork that has poked fun at the games industry for years.

Creators Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins are on board, naturally, and are being bossed about by Ron Gilbert of Monkey Island fame.

If we pop that into our excitement-ulator it adds up to a big number.

The game is a role-playing adventure set in a 1920s world with bonkers characters, over-the-top combat and, uh oh, "adult humour".

Pop over to our Penny Arcade Adventures gallery to be smitten by its charms, or toddle off to Eurogamer TV for the trailer.
