Penny Arcade PSN release this week
US confirmed, waiting on Euro response.
The first episode in the Penny Arcade Adventures series will be released on the US version of the PlayStation Store tomorrow, 23rd October.
Sony has yet to get back to us about whether it will be released on the European Store at the same time, but the press release says "other regions to follow shortly thereafter", so perhaps there's a bit of localisation holdup.
Developer Hothead Games has said it will cost USD 14.99 in the US, and that the existing PC, Mac and Linux versions sold via digital distribution will be reduced to match that price.
Over on Xbox Live Arcade, where the game launched in May, Microsoft set the price at 1600 Microsoft Points (GBP 13.60 / EUR 19.20), but Hothead boss Vlad Ceraldi hopes that will change for the second episode, due out this Christmas.
"Other platforms and digital distribution services can make their own decision regarding pricing, of course, but we're recommending under USD 15 for this and all episodes going forward," he said.
And PS3 owners won't have to wait long to carry on if they enjoy this one.
"Episode Two will be coming to PlayStation Network before Christmas and we are really happy how it turned out," Ceraldi added, following a 'gone gold' announcement recently. It should also arrive on XBLA and PC around the same time.
The PS3 version of Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness - Episode One, to give it its full title, includes Trophies, score rankings and background music support.
