Pokémon Go Equinox event - end date, Super Incubators, Mareep, Chansey, Larvitar, other event Pokémon and everything else you need to know about the Autumn event
All the details on the first in-game event since Pokémon Go's anniversary.
The Pokémon Go Equinox event takes place at the end of September, and is set to introduce new, special Eggs containing rare Pokémon, new Super Incubators for hatching Eggs faster, and bonuses to Stardust and XP from certain activities, too.
Similar to the previous Fire and Ice event and earlier Grass event, trainers won't encounter increased numbers of specific Pokémon, but will be able to hatch unusual species like Mareep, Chansey, and Larvitar from special 2km Eggs, as well as earn the various other rewards.

What time does the Pokémon Go Equinox event end? Autumn Event end date, end date and details
The Pokémon Go Equinox event started on Friday, September 22nd and will now end 11 days later on Wednesday, October 3rd at the following times:
- UK: 9pm (BST)
- Europe: 10pm (CEST)
- West Coast US: 1pm (PDT)
- East Coast US: 4pm (EDT)
It was originally ten days, but after a period of outage developer Niantic announced a one day extension.
Mareep, Chansey, Larvitar and other Pokémon likely to appear in the Equinox event
According to Niantic, we can expect to some unusual Pokémon hatching from special 2km Eggs during the event. The Eggs will be earned in the usual way it seems - from spinning Pokéstops - so try to clear some space in your bag for the event ones!
Between official imagery and press releases, ther's only a small roster confirmed so far:
Confirmed Equiox event Pokémon:
- Larvitar
- Mareep
- Chansey
So far, those are the only Pokémon mentioned by Niantic, but they did follow that brief list with a teasing "...and more!", so expect at least a few more unusual Pokémon to be hatching from those special Eggs. We'll update this page when we know more!
The Max Out Season is here. The new global event, Wild Area, is nearly here and In the Wild is our lead-up event, which includes the global release of Toxel. You can now catch Dynamax Pokémon through Max Battles. First, however, you need to visit Power Spots to collect Max Particles and complete the To the Max! quest. Don't forget to try out Routes, Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon, fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases.
Super Incubators, Equinox Boxes, and everything else to know about the Pokémon Go Equinox Event
Alongside the new Eggs, Pokémon Go is also introducing several other changes and additions for the duration of the event.
1) New Super Incubators and special boxes from the store
Niantic has promised players the ability to buy "special boxes from the in-game shop that feature items like Lucky Eggs, Lure Modules, and all-new Super Incubators which hatch Eggs 1.5 times quicker!"
It's not clear how much those will cost just yet, and what the best practice is as for clearing space in your bag and using them, but from the wording it seems that they'll hatch all Egg types faster - so maybe it's worth putting these new Super Incubators on any 10km Eggs taking up space, and saving your infinite use Incubator for the 2km ones?
2) Increased XP for registering new Pokémon to the Pokédex
Registering any new Pokémon to the Pokédex will get you a tasty 3x bonus XP. Unfortunately for long-time players, there aren't too many Pokémon left ot register, but on the upside this event does cross over with the shift to the next rotation of the Entei, Raiku, and Suicune Legendary Pokémon becoming available from the end of the month. Hop into some Legendary Raids after the change over if you can!
Otherwise, the Pokémon like Mareep and Chansey are a good opportity for you to get those trickey Ampharos and Blissey evolutions, or even a Tyranitar from your new Larvitars if you've yet to capture one.
Activity | Before event | During event | With Lucky Egg | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Register a new Pokémon | 500 XP | 1500 XP | 3000 XP | |
Catch any Pokémon | 100 Stardust | 200 Stardust | 200 Stardust | |
Hatching a 2km Egg | 100 Stardust | 200 Stardust | 200 Stardust | |
Hatching a 5km Egg | 100 Stardust | 200 Stardust | 200 Stardust | |
Hatching a 10km Egg | 100 Stardust | 200 Stardust | 200 Stardust |
3) Increased Stardust, at last!
Perhaps the most valuable resource for long-time players at this point, Niantic have finally introduced a Stardust bonus with the Equinox event.
You'll get double the Stardust from catching Pokémon and hatching Pokémon, so the long and short if it is the more you play the regular day-to-day game, the more 'dust you'll earn. Time to get grinding while you can to power up those Pokes!
For an extra hand, you can read up on how to throw perfect Curveballs and get Nice, Great and Excellent bonuses, as well as our egg hatching chart.
That's your lot. It should be noted the similar Water Festival earlier this year also stealth-introduced the concept of Shinies, including a Shiny Magikarp and Red Gyarados. It's unknown whether another such update will be introduced (or even more Shinies) but as usual, it doesn't hurt to keep your eyes peeled for anything suspect.
