Pokémon Sun and Moon - Captain Kiawe's Trial, Wela Volcano Park, Totem Marowak, Firium Z and Ride Charizard

Our complete walkthrough for every step of your latest Pokémon journey.

Now you've finished up with Route 6, Royal Avenue and Route 7, it's on to your second trial on Akala Island, as your Alolan Challenge starts to gather pace.

Next up, you'll be heading to Wela Volcano Park, for Captain Kiawe's Trial against Totem Marowak, where you'll be awarded the Firium Z Crystal and the ability to summon Ride Charizard and fly!

Volcano Park

Volcano Park is an unusual route, starting with a few rocky areas with long grass at the foot of the volcano, before a tunnel quickly whisks you to the top of the hill.

The Volcano itself is straddled by a couple of other paths, where you can wind your way down the side of the hill to collect a few items and battle a couple more trainers. It's worth doing, as you can quickly get back to the top, where a Trial Guide will kindly heal you before your next challenge.

Captain Kiawe's Trial, Totem Cubone, Firium Z and Ride Charizard

This trial is, fortunately, a pretty easy one if you've every played a game of spot-the-difference. Head upwards from the central area at the top of Wela Volcano, and you'll meet Kiawe.

Your task is to tell the difference between two dances performed by Kiawe's Alolan Marowak. Do this three times, successfully, and it's time to fight to Totem Pokémon, Totem Marowak!

After the battle, you'll be awarded the Fire-powering Z Crystal, Firium Z, along with 10 Quick Balls and the ability to use Ride Charizard to fly to anywhere with a Pokémon Center that you've previously visited. This is much earlier than you'll normally receive the ability to Fly in a Pokémon game, so feel free to go explore!

Next up, it's through the now-open tunnel on Route 7 and on to Route 8, Lush Jungle, and Captain Mallow's Trial!
