Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon - Dimensional Research Lab, Diglett's Tunnel and Route 9
Our in-progress walkthrough for the whole Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon island challenge and beyond.
Dimensional Research Lab, Diglett's Tunnel and Route 9 are the next stops on your path to challenging Akala Island's Kahuna, so Heahea City's where you'll need to head first.
Here on this page we'll explain all you need to know about the story and main events as they unfold here, and as with all pages of our walkthrough we'll highlight any and all trainers, items and wild Pokémon available to catch as well.
For more general guides and other walkthrough pages like this meanwhile, head back to our main Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon walkthrough and guide hub.
Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Dimensional Research Lab
This part's pretty simple. Head back to Heahea City and you'll now be able to access its eastern half. There, you'll find the Dimensional Research Lab, with Lillie waiting for you out the front.
Talk to her, then head inside and meet Kukui and his partner, Professor Burnet. You'll be tasked with talking to people to find out a little more information before you can leave, so take a moment to chat to everyone in the room, especially Lillie, and then talk to Kukui again, where he'll let you go.
TRAINERS POKEMON ITEMSPokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Diglett's Tunnel
Much the same as the classic Diglett Cave from Pokémon Red and Blue, Diglett's Tunnel is a route dug by, you guessed it, Diglett.
Head inside and hang to the right to collect an item, near Worker Frank, then hang left and smash the rocks by the steps to get a Fire Stone.
Along the way, you'll be accosted by some Team Skull Grunts once again. Team up with your pal Hau to defeat them in what should be a pretty easy battle, and then proceed on through the last couple of trainers to the other side.
One final thing to note - this is the only place where you can catch Larvitar in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon (indeed you can't catch one at all in regular Sun and Moon). It evolves into Pupitar, and then the extremely powerful Rock and Dark-type Tyranitar, and as it's simply a rare encounter from regular walking in the cave, it will take a little while to find, too. It's worth it!

What's more, we have pages on the Rockruff event for getting Dusk Form Lycanroc and, last but not least, a full Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon QR codes list for adding all Pokémon to your Pokédex.
Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Route 9
Route 9 is a very short route, linking the southern exit of Diglett's Tunnel with Konikoni City and Memorial Hill.
You'll meet a man called Looker - you'll remember him from previous generations, as well as the regular Sun and Moon endgame if you played them - and he'll drop a few references to those classic games as welll as handing you a Thunder Stone for your trouble. Handy!
There's also a Police Station here, which houses a rather odd little sidequest. At the back of the station you'll notice a slightly strange Police Officer. Talk to him, and it turns out he's a Ditto! Weird.
Battle the Ditto - we recommend catching it by the way - and then talk to the other officer there to discover that there are five Ditto on the loose, posing as regular people. Each one has a Nature that's useful for breeding competitive Pokémon, and interesting IVs, too. Catch all five if you can, especially if you care about breeding extra strong Pokémon!
Next up: Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon - Konikoni City, Memorial Hill and Akala Outskirts
After that, the bottom of the route features a couple of trainers and a decent fishing spot, where you can catch the rare Corsola by having Mareaning SOS-call it - but note that the Mareanie, being a predator that actually eats Corsola, will actually attack it itself in battle!
