Porn company wants to get on PS3
Will look at Xbox if Sony agree.
Vivid Entertainment, the largest adult video production company in the world, is drafting a proposal to Sony to distribute porn on PS3's PlayStation Network.
Boss Steve Hirsch told Kotaku that he would consider Xbox 360 as a smut-peddling platform if Sony can be persuaded to come around.
He pointed out that Sony, after initial resistance, has allowed adult video Blu-ray discs to be released, and has recently permitted on-demand HD porn to appear on the Japanese PSN via local producer DDM.TV.
"Our point is pretty simple," Hirsch said. "As long as age verification is in place that [Sony] feels comfortable with we see no reason why adults shouldn't be allowed to access adult movies on the PlayStation 3."
He added: "They had made it clear in the past they were not interested," Hirsch said. "Now that they have agreed to in some way allow adult films on the Japanese platform we are going to move forward and make a formal request."
Xbox 360 would be his second port of call if Vivid succeeds, but Hirsch is unsurprisingly wary of approaching Nintendo with the same idea. "The Wii seems to skew a little young," he said.
