Chart-Track bossman Dorian Bloch has said Sony has "a long way to go" when it comes to winning the hardware war in the UK - despite the fact PS3 is outselling Xbox 360.

As reported by the newscrazed factwhores over at GamesIndustry.biz, Xbox 360 sales fell by 11 per cent last week. PlayStation 3 sales were up 14 per cent, having risen by 73 per cent the week before.

In week-on-week terms, Bloch said, "PS3 is in the lead a bit right now but not by a huge amount.

"The Xbox 360 is extremely well-liked in the UK and very strong," he continued. "Sony has a long way to go to overtake it in the UK."

Bloch reckons Xbox 360 will hit the 2 million UK sales mark next week. It took the console 60 weeks to rack up 1 million sales after it launched in December 2005, and Microsoft now puts total worldwide sales at 18 million.

According to Sony, 1 million PS3 consoles were shifted in the UK between the March 2007 launch and February this year. Also in February, the company reported worldwide sales of 10.5 million units.
