F-Zero: GP Legend (GBA)

What I never knew. I did not feel. I hadn't followed the GBA release lists for a long time, so I didn't know. But there it was. Like that. Pang. GP Legend. WTF? I later found out. This game was actually finished long ago, developing done, but held back, until some time ago, for whatever reason. I didn't know that.
I always thought Maximum Velocity was the best launch title the GBA had. Okay, I'm lying, Kuru Kuru Kururin was the best title... but I didn't buy Kururin at launch. I bought Maximum Velocity. And loved every single piece of Mode 7 scroll of it. I'm sorry, Kuru, but I didn't know. Another piece of the puzzle. It's the second F-Zero for GBA. The third one, Climax, is almost upon us now. So, I had to rush out and get GP Legend. I just had to. Because as I was reading some piece of news regarding Climax, that was when I first read the title of this game. And the acronym hit me the first time. WTF. How could I have missed this? I don't know.
Following, helping, being helped by the anime F-Zero series. It's got all the same characters. All the old ones aswell. Maximum Velocity didn't... and I still managed to love it very very much... but perhaps that was the reason. It's been three years, so I can't really remember. Captain Falcon, Samurai Goroh, Pico, Dr Stewart, Jody Summers, they're all here. Plus a couple of new whiners from the anime, of course.
The tracks have all gone eccentric in a sort of one-eighty degree you wouldn't really expect without pressing A for some time. Definitely a different race than what was Maximum Velocity, but as I said, I've played Maximum Velocity already. It still looks about the same though, but that's not all such a bad thing. My dreams are made of parallax scrolling Mode 7 and pumping 80s hair metal. There is peace there. Have a true zen moment. Have more. If you're interested, you'll know.
