Rebellion announces four new Sniper Elite games in development

Including a follow-up to Sniper Elite 4.

There's a lot of Sniper Elite on the horizon.

Developer Rebellion has announced four new Sniper Elite games are in development, including a follow-up to Sniper Elite 4.

Let's start in the nearer-term: Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is a spruced-up version of the 2012 stealth shooter. It launches later in 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch this year with enhanced visuals, 4K resolution and HDR. The remaster adds new playable characters, a new photo mode and expanded online multiplayer for up to 16 players, as well as all the content ever released for the game.

Then we've got Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition on Nintendo Switch, also due out later in 2019. This includes all the content ever released for the game as well as a local wireless multiplayer mode and motion controls.

There's a new standalone Sniper elite game for VR devices in the works with Leeds-based studio Just Add Water (Oddword, Gravity Crash). There's no trailer for this one. Expect a reveal later this year, Rebellion said.

And then the big one: the new major title in the Sniper Elite series that follows on from Sniper Elite 4. Rebellion didn't say much about this game except that it's in development and will be revealed in 2020. Could it be a next-gen game? The timing fits.

That's a lot of Sniper Elite in development, and it suggests Rebellion's going to be pretty busy over the coming years. The video below is a development update from Rebellion boss Jason Kingsley, who goes into more detail.
