Ex-Team Ninja boss Tomonobu Itagaki is partnering with Dawn of War developer Relic Entertainment on the technology behind his upcoming game Devil's Third.

Itagaki, who heads up new developer Valhalla Studios, is at Relic in Vancouver, Canada as we speak, according to THQ core games boss Danny Bilson (reported by Joystiq).

Bilson was speaking in New York last night to announce THQ's new logo, which has already caused quite a stir.

Relic has focused on the Warhammer 40K license in recent years, pumping out games and expansions in the excellent Dawn of War RTS series.

PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title Devil's Third is described as a "fast paced action game set in the near future in the wake of a global catastrophe", but other details are thin on the ground.

We know Itagaki would like Devil's Third to have 3D options on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Last year Itagaki told Eurogamer, "I'm very interested in looking into 3D. We've been looking at what's available for 3D PC games, and I also have a 3D TV at home now."

Devil's Third is down for a 2012 release, some time after Darksiders 2 hits the shops. As of June last year, the game was said to be about 10 per cent finished.
