Resident Evil 2 - Exploring the Sewers as Leon, how to beat the G Adults
How to defeat your first G Adult while exploring the Sewers as Leon.
Exploring the Sewers as Leon in Resident Evil 2 follows on from Ada's EMF Visualiser and Incinerator puzzles.
While the prior section was fairly linear, the Sewers as Leon sees things branch out a little more again - but first, let's get past the first G Adult encounter so you can properly get to grips with the area.

Exploring the Sewers as Leon
You'll now resume control of Leon. You cannot retrace Ada's steps, so head to the north-east and use the elevator to reach the Water Gate.
Use the Item Box and Typewriter in the corner if you wish, then head down the steps and drop into the water. There's some ammo on the trash to your right, then head through the tunnel.
To the left is a T-Bar Handle Slot - ignore it for now - so go east through the tunnel.
There are two paths - the left (north) path is a dead end with some Ammo, so do that first before going right (south) and up the steps to several soldier corpses. Get the USS Digital Video Cassette as you go.
Continue round to a set of walkways with a locked Treatment Facility door on the right, and another locked door in the corner. There is a console you can access between them - this gives you the Rook Plug, but doing so raises the walkway ahead, blocking your path.
Leave it where it is, and head onward across the lowered walkway, passing another locked Treatment Facility Door and going right down the stairs. Grab the consumble on the barrel at the end, go into the water, and head west, sliding down the ramp into the Lower Waterway.
Grab the Blue Herb on the left platform where the T-Bar Handle Slot is, and continue going west. The left path is gated off - don't worry, the zombies won't hurt you - while the right has an obstacle in the way - a large mutated creature named the G Adult.
How to beat the G Adults
It'll have melee attacks if you get too close, and spits out drones into the water. Keep your distance, take down the drones has they ripple through the water with your pistol, and use your Shotgun to target the eye on its shoulder. Keep repeating this, backing away, until it's downed.
Progress past, up the left ledge, into a room with a Cable Car. Continue the linear path up the ladder to the Control Room. On the desk to the right is a Copy of Emails to Umbrella HQ File location, and next to it, a locker code combination. As always you'll learn the code later, or use the prior link to grab it now.

When ready, drop down below into the Monitor Room, and a cutscene will play - it's time to save Ada down below. Before that, you're in a safe room. There's a few points of interest here, including:
- A Sewers Map to the left of the window looking out over Ada's location
- The Sewers Company Pamphlet File on the desk in the middle
- Video cassette player, which can be used to play the USS Digital Video Cassette from earlier
- Unlocking the U-Area Door file on the wall in the eastern part of the room
Reading the last file gives you a new objective - find the plugs. If you look at the panels on the wall, there are some plugs already in them - the Pawn Plug, Knight Plug and Bishop Plug. Leave them in there for now, as you need more Plugs to complete the puzzle. Let's go find the King, Queen and Rock locations then solve the Chess puzzle now.
