Looks like Sega is teasing Puyo Puyo Tetris for PC
UPDATE: And now it's official.
UPDATE 6/2/18 3.05pm: After last night's teases, Sega has now confirmed Puyo Puyo Tetris for PC.
The excellent Nintendo Switch puzzler will see its PC debut on Tuesday 27th February. Pre-ordering the game will get you a 10 per cent discount - though the Steam store page has yet to go live.
It sounds like the game will be the same experience as on Switch - although one added feature is the ability to select the original Japanese voice-overs.
ORIGINAL STORY 5/2/18 10.30pm: Fans are speculating that mysterious news posts, which have started to appear on various Sega game communities on Steam, could be teasing a PC release of Puyo Puyo Tetris.
The posts, which were spotted by Reddit user Dasnap, began materialising on Steam earlier today. Each originated from a user calling themselves 'Sega dev', and each contains a unique ASCII illustration of a block from either the Puyo Puyo and Tetris series.
At present, there are Puyo Puyo Tetris posts on the official Vanquish news feed, as well as those of Bayonetta, Valkyrie Chronicles, Tembo the Badass Elephant, Binary Domain, Alpha Protocol, Renegade Ops, Jet Set Radio, Hell Yeah!, Sega Bass Fishing, Nights into Dreams, and Sega Mega Drive & Genesis Classics.
Sega's marketing department has, of course, used these kind of cheeky release teases on numerous occassions in recent times, increasing the likelihood that fan speculation is on the money here. Last April, for instance, the publisher surprise-released a free 8-bit-style Bayonetta shooter, which heralded the launch of the first game in the series for PC.
Several months later, Sega tried a similar trick, teasing the arrival of Vanquish on PC by releasing a tiny update for Bayonetta that sneakily added a number of Vanquish-themed avatar images to the game's installation folder.
As such, today's ASCII antics seem in keeping with Sega's recent MO, making Puyo Puyo Tetris for PC a reasonable bet.
Puyo Puyo Tetris is a great game (as I might have mentioned when I reviewed it on Switch last year), and would be a worthy addition to any puzzle-loving PC player's collection. Fingers crossed that the speculation turns out to be true.
