Shovel Knight heads to 3DS and Wii U in Europe next month
November launch finally dug up.
Kickstarter success Shovel Knight will at last launch for 3DS and Wii U in Europe next month, developer Yacht Club Games has announced.
The 2D action platformer is already available here on PC, and launched for Nintendo platforms in North America back in June.
Writing in a new blog post, the developer has apologised for the wait in getting the game launched in Europe - something it has previously blamed on localisation and translation problems.
"Thank you European and Australian region players for hanging in there with us for so long," Yacht Club wrote.
"We learned some new things and have a wealth of ideas for how we can improve on in the future. We're truly sorry for the delay."
Anyone due a free copy of the game should now register for a download code via their Humble page, Kickstarter backers have been told, preferably within the next week.
"The game has a light, fresh appeal, even for those who never played 16-bit platform games the first time around, skewering the old publisher lie that only the latest, loudest, most technologically accomplished video games are worthwhile," Simon Parkin wrote in Eurogamer's Shovel Knight review. "There is gold in these old genres, and Shovel Knight is a successful dig."
